I was surprised when my lolo returned home from the mall with a smile on his face. I learned later that the smirk was because of the fact that he did not have to pay for parking when he went to the hospital for his check-up.

With the exception of overnight parking, Quezon City has made parking for the elderly more convenient. As long as senior citizens present a valid identification card, they will be exempt from paying parking fees. Establishments like hospitals, restaurants and service businesses small and large, malls, and more.

This is a wonderful move in upholding a Filipino value of honoring our elderly. It improves their quality of life as well as promotes one of our better cultural traits.
